Go Farther in the 2020 Subaru Outback this Fall

New Additions

The Subaru Outback is a station wagon that has a long-standing history in the Subaru lineup of vehicles. With 2019 marking the final year of the fifth generation for Subaru Outback models, the 2020 Subaru Outback has been redesigned and is now in its sixth generation of production. While the 2020 Subaru Outback may not look too different from previous models, the new Outback is available with a new engine option in addition to several new features, packages, and color options for customers to choose from.

Performance

Subaru continued to offer two different engine layouts for the Subaru Outback. Depending on the trim that a customer chooses, the 2020 Subaru Outback can be powered by either a 2.5-liter flat-four engine or a smaller 2.4-liter flat-four engine.

The 2.5-liter engine produces 182 horsepower and 176 pound-feet of torque while achieving 26 miles per gallon in the city and 33 miles per gallon on the highway. The turbocharged 2.4-liter engine produces 260 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque while capable of achieving 23 miles per gallon in the city and 30 miles per gallon on the highway. The new turbocharged 2.4-liter engine is a replacement for the larger 3.6-liter six-cylinder engine that was offered for previous models.

Features

The base trim of the 2020 Outback includes an infotainment system that can be accessed through a 7-inch touchscreen display. The upper three trims of the 2020 Outback include a larger 11.6-inch touchscreen displays for their infotainment systems.

Safety

The 2020 Subaru Outback, as with most other Subaru models, connects power to the ground through a standard all-wheel-drive system. For drivers who enjoy driving off-road, Subaru offers an optional off-road driving mode to increase the capability of their 2020 Outback vehicles.

Trick X-Mode, the name for Subaru's off-road mode, offers features such as hill-descent control, which regulates vehicle speed as the Outback goes down a steep descent. Subaru's Eyesight safety suite comes standard with every 2020 Subaru Outback model. Safety features like blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, and forward-collision warning are included among many other features in Subaru Eyesight.
