The Subaru Outback is one of Indiana's most popular midsize SUVs, and that's not something that happened by mistake! When you hit the road in a Subaru Outback, you're getting the whole package - standard all-wheel drive, high ground clearance, a rugged design, and a robust suite of features and amenities.

Just because the Subaru Outback is already great, however, doesn't mean there's no room for improvement. That's a fact that Subaru's engineers have embraced with the design of the 2022 Outback. The newest model will offer some substantial improvements, including a brand new trim designed for all-terrain performance.

What Does the 2022 Subaru Outback Bring to the Table?

The 2022 Subaru Outback will land in dealerships with eight different trim options:

  • Outback Limited
  • Outback Limited XT
  • Outback Onyx Edition
  • Outback Premium
  • Outback Touring
  • Outback Touring XT
  • Outback Wilderness

All of these different models offer useful features, including amenities like dual-zone automatic climate control and heated seating. Every new model also comes equipped with Subaru's EyeSight safety collection. EyeSight includes safety technologies like adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and more. The new model will also offer two impressive engine options:

  • 2.5-liter flat-4: 182 horsepower, 176 pounds-feet of torque, 26/33 miles per gallon
  • 2.4-liter turbocharged flat-4: 260 horsepower, 277 pounds-feet of torque, 23/30 miles per gallon

The biggest addition to the Subaru Outback in 2022, however, will come by way of the all-new Wilderness trim. The Wilderness trim ups the ante for the Outback when it comes to off-road ability, utilizing a range of big and small upgrades to improve its performance.
